Description

Book 2 of The Croy Cycle.

Set 15 years after the events in If I Remember Him, Comfort Me follows the children of the protagonists in that book: Mally, the son of Susan Jacobs and Andy Simms; Joanie, the daughter of Ruth and John Tibbits; and Randy, the son of Virginia Alquist and Harry Edom. The three teenagers do not start off as friends, due partly to the weight of their parents’ decisions and prejudices. But they learn to balance honesty and loyalty, sexual longing and selfless love, and face the truth about themselves and each other, taking comfort in the bonds of friendship.

Originally published in 2008, this revised edition integrates elements from Book 1 of The Croy Cycle but stands alone as a compelling coming-of-age story.

Six original illustrations by Jennifer Rain Crosby enhance the text.

  1. Judith

Comfort Me by Louis Flint Ceci is an excellent read, highly recommended. A few years ago I read the 2008 edition, but recently bought Ceci’s prequel, If I Remember Him – and now the revised edition of Comfort Me takes on a new dimension. The characters have more depth, and events more significance because we know their history. We are familiar with the town of Croy, pick up on innuendos and appreciate the new generation and the struggles they inherit. This is a page turner, charmingly innocent at times but with serious undertones. I laughed, and, yes, teared up too. The new cover and illustrations by Jennifer Rain Crosby are significant additions. I am much looking forward to volume three in the Croy Cycle, Jacob’s Ladder, due out in 2021. Well done Ceci!
